A figure draws what its object knows.

A figure is more than a shape with a label. Its parts read the object's fields: a ring shows progress against a goal, stars show a rating, a pill shows the change since last week. Change the value and every drawing of it follows.

  • the value lives on the object
  • ring · stars · delta · chart

A list of values becomes a chart.

A field can hold a list of name–value pairs — cups by hour, sales by day. A chart figure draws that list, and when a value in the list changes, the chart changes with it.

  • pairs → chart
  • no chart to redraw

Text built from the fields.

A type can say how its objects write their text: markdown with the object's name, its description and any field — the price in bold, for example. Every object of the type follows the same template.

  • name · description · any field
  • one template per type

A band that says what it is.

A figure can carry a band across its top with its type and its number, so a reader sees what each box is without a legend.

Save a set of figures as one.

Several drawings of one object — a photo, a name, a ring, a price — can be saved under a name as one figure and stamped onto any object of the type. The project lists every saved figure and how many copies of it are drawn.

  • a frame and its parts
  • copies on every board
